JULY 15, 2016 - GRAND CHIEF AND DEPUTY GRAND CHIEF ELECTION

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Edmonton, Alberta – July 15 – On May 16, 2016 the Treaty 8 Chiefs held a nomination meeting for the Grand Chief and Deputy Grand Chief position with the election to take place at the 2016 Annual General Meeting hosted by the Woodland Cree First Nation. TREATY 8 CHIEFS HOPEFUL AFTER PROTOCOL SIGNING WITH PREMIER

SIGN VANDALISM SPARKS DISAPPOINTMENT AMONG CHIEFS

Date: November 21, 2014 Vandalism of a road sign has left Chiefs of Treaty No. 8 [Alberta] very disappointed. Signs marking "Entering Treaty No. 8 Territory" have been going up all across the province marking out the actual borders of the Alberta portion of the territory covered by Treaty No. 8, signed between the Crown and First Nations in 1899.
