Co-Management

The Alberta First Nations / First Nations and Inuit Health Branch (FNIHB) Regional Health Co- Management Committee was structured to jointly assess, analyze, plan and manage the administration of the Alberta Region Envelope. A formal agreement to co-manage the regional envelope was signed on November 18, 1996 by Alberta Chiefs and the Minister of Health.

Tansi my name is Nora Alook and I’m a Big stone Cree Nation Member. I’ve been with Treaty 8 First Nations of Alberta for the past 8 years. The first 3.5 years was with the Livelihood department and the last 4.5 years with the Health Department as the Health Co-Management (HCOM) Liaison. My current job is to attend all HCOM Committee and Subcommittee meetings who meet on a quarterly basis. From the meetings I then prepare meeting summaries and share the summary with all Treaty 8 Health Directors. Treaty 8 HCOM Representatives, Chiefs of Health and T8 management. My educational background includes a Microcomputer Office Specialist Certificate and Office Administration Certificate. I enjoy my job and look forward to many more successful years with the Health Department.

Kris Janvier Health Policy Analyst – With over 9 years of experience working in the area of First Nations health and social development. Kris works to analyze and monitor the National Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) Policy and Health Programs provided by First Nations & Inuit Health Branch (FNIHB) and provide advice options and recommendation to ensure that the programs delivered meet the needs of the Treaty 8 First Nation members now and in the future. Kriswho is a member of the Chipewyan Prairie First Nation has resided in the Edmonton area for the last 10 years. Outside of work. Kris enjoys staying active through a number of sports and spending time with wife and young daughter.

Jackie is a member from Bigstone Cree Nation, Wabasca and has been with the Treaty 8 Health Department since 2014. Her previous job held was with the Municipality (Local Government) inWabasca, which and held the Accounts Payable Analyst position. Jackie was a part owner of a small construction company and developed a safety program that met the Certificate of Recognition program.

Working for Treaty 8 First Nations of Alberta has given Jackie the opportunity to meet many Leaders,Elders and community members from other First Nations. Her dad was a proud Elder Representative forBigstone Cree Nation that encouraged her to get involved with working for a First Nation organization.

As a Health Admin Assistant she provides support to co-workers which may include attending meetings.prepares meeting packages, takes minutes as well as other office duties
