The Woodland Cree First Nation #474 is seeking kind, caring and compassionate nurse to become the COVID Response Coordinator leading the community COVID-19 response. Reporting to the Director of Health, the COVID Response Coordinator is responsible for leading the COVID-19 response efforts for the community of Woodland Cree First Nation by establishing and implementing the operational plan of COVID-19 response, and assist the public health team with COVID-19 response while providing health education to the clients, families and community.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Establish and implement an operational plan for the community COVID response.
- Assist Public Health team with current COVID practices such as screening, testing, contact tracing, and follow-up.
- Lead the COVID preparation activities
- Oversees the development of processes, systems and protocols for the various staff and service areas
- Liaise with Emergency Management team, Health Director, DEM, Nursing staff, and other Public Health teams as required.
- Ensures appropriate IT supports and equipment are in place for centre operations
- Ensures appropriate supplies are ordered, monitored and stored appropriately
- Procuring and managing PPE for the community COVID response
- Reviews and approves staff schedules
- Regularly evaluates current processes and makes improvements as required
- Follow up on any incident reports made by staff
- On-call when off-site for staff support
- Contribute to the team by performing other duties as required
Qualifications:
- A nurse with current registration with CARNA. RN or LPN with Valid CPR/First Aid Certification.
- Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing, Diploma/B.SC.N.
- Current registration with C.A.R.N.A.
- A minimum of three years of experience in Public Health is preferred. Five years’ experience in acute care may be considered as a minimum.
- Excellent and effective decision making skills, oral and written skills, assessment skills, interpersonal skills, organizational skills, teaching skills and supervisory skills are required.
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team with other care providers.
- Willing, capable and flexible in working to meet the needs of the health department.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of aboriginal health care concerns and issues
- Current Level C Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Standard First Aid HCP Certificates.
Additional Requirements:
- Possesses valid driver’s license with access to reliable transportation.
- Submission of clear Police Information Check & Child Intervention Check
- Oath of Confidentiality must be signed prior to commencing employment.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Cree culture, organizations and communities
