Reporting to the CFS Team Lead of WFLFN#459 Child & Family Services Society.

We are seeking for a Full-time dedicated individual to join the team at WFLFN#459 Child and Family Services Society in serving children and families within the community. The successful candidate will be the initial contact (Intake) with Nation members; receiving reports on safety concerns for children and youth on our Nation and conducting Intake and ensuring Initial Assessments using the Signs of Safety practise model and least intrusive measures to determine appropriate holistic services to meet the needs of child, youth and families are undertaken.

The Intake worker will be responsible to determine whether initial contacts is referred for immediate safety planning through the Intervention services; or a referral to the Prevention Program; or to appropriate community programs/services.

Hours of work will be Monday to Friday 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM and evenings and weekends as required. Salary will be based on Qualifications and Experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

Priorities will include gathering information to determine if Intervention or Prevention services are required for families in crisis make appropriate referrals and conducting follow up contact to ensure child, youth and family needs are being met. This position requires a team player who works closely with the community agencies and programs to create partnerships to ensure that a range of child intervention services are effectively coordinated to meet the needs of Nation families. The Intake Worker will be required to input all information into the CICIO system and maintain case management files, participate in case conferences and attend team and staff meetings.

Knowledge and Skills: The ideal candidates will have a working knowledge of the Child, Youth, and Family Enhancement Act; Signs of Safety as well as possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong critical thinking skills and organizational skills. Additionally, they will be required to demonstrate the skills, knowledge, abilities and competencies as outlined in the Job Profile; required to be on the On-Call/Intake Rotation list. Knowledge of Cree Nation culture and language is a definite asset.

Qualifications:

A Social Work diploma, BSW or MSW or other social sciences diploma with a minimum of 2 years of frontline experience and excellent computer skills. Previous experience working with Intervention Services role is preferred. Experience working with; or knowledge of, Indigenous communities and culture, and working knowledge of Signs of Safety is an asset.

Additional Requirements: Current and valid Alberta driver’s license; access to vehicle with $2M auto liability insurance; Conditions for hire: submission of a satisfactory (CICIO) and Canadian Police Information Center (CPIC) clearances and pre-employment drug/alcohol testing; Submission of academic certificates. Personal or access to telephone. Current First Aid certificate (note: training will be provided if certification not currently held).
