Description:

As the CPFN Community Addictions Counsellor, you will provide quality, client focused, recovery based and culturally appropriate assessment , treatment, case management, crisis intervention, education and referral services for clients and their families. This is a full time NNADAP program and you will work under the supervision of the CPFN Health Director

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assess client’s needs and create a custom treatment plan
  • Refer clients to Treatment Centres and assist client with registration requirements (i.e. Medical exam), rides to/from treatment centre,
  • Assist the client with his/her Aftercare program after finishing treatment
  • Create and maintain confidential client files
  • Prepare program reports as needed
  • Coordinate with other healthcare providers, agencies and community resources (i.e. Elders) in order to create a thorough treatment plan
  • Organize AA and other related meetings as needed (i.e. NA, ACOA, etc.)
  • Provide addiction awareness information to community members
  • Arrange Community Addiction Awareness Workshops
  • Work with a Community Addictions Advisory Committee
  • Provide community addiction handout info i.e. Crystal Meth
  • Maintain the required certification for the counseling position

Skills

  • Experience working as Addiction Counsellor
  • Maintain client confidentiality at all times
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal);
  • Highly organized, have good problem solving skills, able to work independently, and complete tasks in the necessary timeframes
  • Able to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Publisher;
  • Must be able to work a flexible time schedule (40 hours per week)
  • Able to speak Dene an asset but not a requirement;

Qualifications:

  • Minimum High School Education
  • Must be certified Addictions Counsellor (i.e. Nechi Trained Addiction Counsellor)
  • Have a minimum of three years sobriety (100 % abstinent from Alcohol and Addictive Drugs)
  • Must provide a drivers abstract Salary
