The Treaty 8 Health Careers Program is dedicated to increasing Treaty 8 memberships’ awareness of health care careers. When Canadians think of health care careers, they may think of doctors or nurses, but there are more than 100 different health care careers available. The intent of this program is to identify, encourage and support potential health care workers from Treaty 8 communities, so workers can complete the education and training necessary to deliver health care services in our communities. It’s our vision that one day our health care centres will be fully staffed by local or First Nation health care workers.
